YouTube TV Preps Test of Custom Multiviews Outside of Sports

YouTube TV is rolling out exciting new features that will allow subscribers to customize their viewing experiences significantly. Following a preview last month, Google announced that YouTube TV subscribers would soon have the capability to build custom multiviews for non-live sports content, enhancing how users interact with their favorite shows and channels.

What’s New with YouTube TV Multiview Feature?

As part of its ongoing innovation, YouTube TV is experimenting with enabling users to tailor their viewing preferences based on select channels. According to Google’s announcement, this feature will begin with a small list of popular national channels across various genres, including:

  • Bravo
  • ESPN
  • USA

This initial rollout is set to kick off in the coming weeks and will likely expand to include local channels and other popular networks over the following months. Google reassured users that the awaiting experience would be available to all subscribers eventually.

How to Access the Custom Multiview Feature

To take advantage of the new multiview feature on YouTube TV, follow these simple steps:

  • From the Home tab, click on a multiview from the “Watch in multiview” row or “Top picks for you” recommendations.
  • If you’re using a smart TV or streaming device, start watching an eligible channel and tap down on your controller to find a multiview.
  • On your mobile device or tablet, begin watching an eligible channel and tap “Multiview” in the player to explore multiview options.

Upcoming: Always-On Multiview Feature

Alongside the customizable multiview feature, YouTube TV is also gearing up for a separate launch of an “Always-On” Multiview that includes local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC channels. This feature is anticipated to arrive sooner than the custom multiviews, offering subscribers a dynamic way to watch their favorite local content.

Additional YouTube TV Updates

In conjunction with the multiview features, YouTube TV remains committed to enhancing its offerings. Notably, YouTube has secured exclusive broadcast rights for the NFL’s first international game of 2025, marking an exciting opportunity for sports fans. Furthermore, the platform recently celebrated its 20th birthday by teasing an upcoming redesign of its TV app and the introduction of new custom multiview options. Additionally, YouTube TV now features a 24/7 channel called “Enjoy the Zen,” delivering a unique viewing experience for relaxation and mindfulness.

This exciting progression in features reflects YouTube TV’s commitment to evolving its platform to meet the needs of its diverse audience. As the platform rolls out these new functionalities, subscribers can look forward to a more personalized and engaging viewing experience.
