Is SNL new tonight? Saturday Night Live is not airing a brand-new episode on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Instead, NBC is presenting a repeat from earlier this season, giving viewers another chance to watch Dakota Johnson’s memorable hosting appearance and a special musical performance by Turnstile.
Is SNL New Tonight? Here’s the Critical Answer
There will be no new Saturday Night Live episode on October 24. The program’s Season 52 schedule is taking a brief October break before returning with a Halloween-themed installment next week.
Saturday Night Live traditionally airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Viewers can also stream the episode the following day on Peacock. For audiences checking their television listings tonight, the most important detail is that this is a re-air rather than a live, first-run broadcast.
What Episode Is NBC Showing Tonight?
NBC is rebroadcasting the October 3, 2026 episode hosted by actress Dakota Johnson. The show marked Johnson’s third time as Saturday Night Live host, following previous appearances in 2015 and 2024.
Johnson, known for films including Fifty Shades of Grey and Verity, delivered a comic monologue that included a surprise appearance by pop superstar Taylor Swift. Swift interrupted the monologue after Johnson joked about her romantic life, creating one of the episode’s most talked-about moments.
The repeat also features sketches from the early part of Season 52, including the episode’s ensemble comedy, celebrity cameos, and live studio energy. Fans who missed the original broadcast can use tonight’s re-air as a chance to catch up before the series resumes its regular schedule.
Turnstile Makes a Powerful SNL Appearance
Turnstile is listed as tonight’s musical guest. The Baltimore-based band is known for blending melodic hardcore, metal, rock, and pop influences into an energetic sound that has helped expand its audience well beyond the traditional punk scene.
The group is scheduled to perform “Birds”, along with a medley featuring “I Care” and “Dull.” All three songs come from the band’s latest studio album, Never Enough.
The appearance is especially notable because it represents Turnstile’s Saturday Night Live debut. The band has been touring in support of Never Enough and adjusted its concert schedule to accommodate the highly anticipated television performance.
When Will Saturday Night Live Return With a New Episode?
Saturday Night Live is expected to return with a new episode on October 31, 2026. The Halloween broadcast will be hosted by Inde Navarrette, known for her role in the series Obsession.
The upcoming episode is positioned as the next major live event in Season 52. A Halloween episode typically brings costume-driven sketches, topical comedy, and celebrity-themed surprises, making the return particularly appealing for viewers who prefer first-run programming.
Until then, fans can revisit previous episodes from across the show’s five-plus decades on Peacock. The streaming library includes classic sketches, Weekend Update segments, famous monologues, musical performances, and highlights from the current season.
