Filming Concludes on the Disney+ Revival
Frankie Muniz, the beloved star of the iconic Fox sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, recently announced the wrap of filming on the highly anticipated reboot slated for Disney+. Muniz, now 39, expressed his enthusiasm and nostalgia on social media, describing the experience as “a blur of perfect moments.”
He shared his thoughts, stating, “Just wrapped filming the Malcolm in the Middle reboot, and man, I’m still reeling. This experience was straight-up incredible—like stepping back into Malcolm’s wild world but with all the love and chaos cranked to 11.”
A Dream Reunion with Cast Members
As filming progressed, Muniz had the pleasure of reconnecting with both old and new cast members. He fondly recalled laughing until it hurt and making new memories on set. Muniz stated, “Reuniting with the cast, getting to know some new characters… felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from.”
The original Malcolm in the Middle went off the air after its seven-season run when Muniz was just a teenager. Reflecting on the opportunity to revisit the show, he expressed how meaningful the experience has been now that he is an adult. “I’m so happy to have gotten the chance to relive being on this show with a greater appreciation of what we were making knowing how many people around the world truly love Malcolm and his family,” he shared.
Embracing the Actor Within
In recent years, Muniz shifted his focus towards NASCAR racing rather than acting. However, the revival of Malcolm in the Middle has reignited his passion for performing. He articulated, “Another big thing I am taking away from this experience is how much I truly love being an actor. I never officially felt like that label fit me, but now I wear that label proudly and hope to do so much more of it in the future.”
Muniz also mentioned that he had captured many wonderful photos with his co-stars during filming, but unfortunately, Disney is not allowing them to be shared just yet. “I had so many incredible pictures of all the cast I wanted to post, but Disney won’t let me. So imagine a picture of all of us together, having the time of our lives!” he humorously added.
The Revival’s Exciting Plot and New Characters
The upcoming four-episode revival promises to reach the emotional heights fans adored in the original series. This time, Malcolm, along with his girlfriend Tristan and daughter Leah, will visit his family to celebrate the 40th wedding anniversary of his parents, played by Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek.
While the show will see several familiar faces returning, some characters have been recast. For example, the role of Dewey, originally portrayed by Erik Per Sullivan, will now be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. Additionally, the character Jamie, introduced in season four, will be filled by Anthony Timpano.
A premiere date for the Malcolm in the Middle revival has yet to be officially announced, leaving fans eagerly anticipating more updates.
