Prince Louis has given royal watchers a sweet glimpse of his early childhood after Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a rare Halloween photo of their youngest son. The Prince and Princess of Wales marked Halloween on October 31, 2026, with a throwback image showing Louis when he was just 1 year old.
The family photograph appears to be the couple’s first Halloween-themed social media post. It quickly drew attention because it offers an informal look at the young royal away from official ceremonies and public appearances.
A Charming Prince Louis Halloween Photo
In the snapshot, Louis is seen crouching in front of a large pumpkin, appearing ready to pick it up. The image captures the prince during a relaxed family moment and reflects the warm, personal style often seen in photographs taken by the Princess of Wales.
“Happy Halloween! 🎃,” William and Kate wrote in the caption. They added that the picture showed “Prince Louis, aged 1,” and was photographed by the Princess of Wales.
Louis is now 8 years old. His appearance in the throwback image has given royal fans a chance to look back at one of the younger milestones in the life of the third child of the Wales family.
What the Photo Reveals About the Wales Family
The picture stands out for its simplicity. Rather than showing the family at a formal engagement or royal event, it presents Louis enjoying a familiar autumn tradition. The pumpkin, outdoor setting and candid pose all contribute to the photo’s cheerful Halloween atmosphere.
William and Kate are known for sharing selected family photographs to mark birthdays, holidays and important moments. Kate, who has a longstanding interest in photography, has frequently taken portraits of her children for public release.
The couple’s children remain among the most closely watched young members of the British monarchy:
- Prince George is 13 years old.
- Princess Charlotte is 11 years old.
- Prince Louis is 8 years old.
Recent Milestones for Prince George and Princess Charlotte
The Halloween post comes after several notable family moments this year. Earlier in October, Kate and Charlotte were seen enjoying a mother-daughter outing in London. The pair traveled with other commuters on the city’s Underground subway system.
They rode the Elizabeth line, which was named in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and were photographed leaving at Tottenham Court Road in central London. The outing offered another rare glimpse of the Wales family participating in an everyday public experience.
In September, George reached a major educational milestone when he began boarding school at Eton College. The prestigious school was also attended by his father, Prince William. William and Kate accompanied George on his first day at the school, which is located near the family’s home in Windsor.
A Personal Glimpse at a Closely Watched Royal Family
Every public image of the Wales children attracts significant interest, but informal photos often receive especially warm reactions. A simple Halloween picture allows audiences to see a more relatable side of royal life while maintaining the family’s carefully considered approach to privacy.
The new image also highlights how quickly the children are growing. Louis, shown as a toddler beside the pumpkin, is now old enough to take part in a range of public events and family traditions. George’s move to Eton and Charlotte’s recent outing with Kate further demonstrate the changing roles of the three siblings.
For William and Kate, the post appears to balance public visibility with a personal family message. It celebrates Halloween while offering a gentle reminder that behind the formal titles are parents documenting the childhood memories of their children.
